I Am In Love.

Well, I guess it's about time you all knew.

I really have something of an unhealthy infatuation with
the ocean. And I really wish I lived closer to it.

But I don't, so I'll just make a wishful blog post about it.

Effective Time-Wasting 101

List of "important" things to do (or at least work on) today:

1. Global Citizen Project. This one is a serious project. It's gonna take some work.

2. Math homework. I don't understand it at all.

3. Practice. Solo and ensemble is just around the corner, with lots of extra band/orchestra music on the side.

4. Schemes/Tropes Project. Another big one. This definitely needs some attention.

5. The Crucible. Not VERY important, but needs some reading nonetheless.

6. The Shipping News. I am behind schedule on that one, to say the least.

7. Call several relatives to ask about donating to my "I'm poor but I'm still going on tour" fund.

8. Clean my room. I can't get to my bed.

9. Take the dog for a walk. Even a short one would suffice, but he needs to get out.

10. Get referrals from Momi so I can get my P.E. credit so I can graduate high school.

Naturally, being who I am, I started in on this formidable pile of work the moment I got home from school.

I got the referrals before I came home, called the relatives while I walked the dog, cleaned my room, practiced for two hours, and read The Crucible and The Shipping News in between projects. Also, I finished my math homework. Then, with hours to spare, I relaxed and enjoyed a few moments to myself.

*snort*

Real Version

I forgot to get the referrals from Momi before I came home. I then proceeded to come home and watch Robin Hood for an hour before going to the temple for another two and a half hours. Then I came home and played Plants vs. Zombies for....well, a long time. I also ate dinner.

I did not walk the dog, call the relatives, do the projects, read the books, finish the homework, practice, or clean my room.

I stewed about it for a while and was resolved to go at least finish the math homework for tomorrow. Then I decided it would be a better idea to blog about it.

You would think I'd have figured it out by now.

The moral of the story?

Eh. Use your imagination.

Love always,
Kate

What I Can Do Without

Remember that post a little while back that was about everything I love about you that was actually supposed to be getting over you? Well, this time we're getting down to business. Today, I am officially over you.

So, with a vow not to cry anymore and a bar of chocolate, here we go.

Things I Don't Like About You
Disclaimer: Yes, some of these are highly irrational.

1. I was never your first priority.

2. You forgot about me a bit too often.

3. You were embarrassed to be seen "together" in public.

4. Your hands look really weird.

5. You laughed when I was hurting.

6. You expected me to be there for you every hour of every day, when you weren't prepared to do the same for me.

7. You're way, WAY too concerned with what other people think about you. Who are you trying to impress?

8. You treated your friends like they were a given.

9. You forgot my birthday.

10. You take other people to Wendy's...you wouldn't even go to Wendy's if it weren't for me.

11. You act like you are much, much cooler than you really are.

12. You strut. Strut!!!

13. "Sorry, I was going to reply but I fell asleep and forgot!"

14. You sleep too much.

15. You are more important than ANYBODY else is. *cough...*

16. You asked me to help you pick Valentine's presents for your girlfriend. Whom I happen to love, by the way.

17. You never, ever plan ahead. Everything is random and impulsive.

18. Your socks are really dumb. I mean it.

You get the drift, yes? I could really go on for a long time, but I won't, even though this is vastly liberating.

P.S. I am officially over you. (You should try getting over yourself.)

Love always,
Kate

Men of Mystery

Is it just me, or are detectives wildly attractive? I mean really.

What is it about them?!

Now I'll rattle off some of my favorite detectives in no particular order.

Adrian Monk.

He's a genius.
(Geniuses are always attractive.)

Doctor Who.

I mean, c'mon.
Look at that face.

Sherlock Holmes.

Classy?
(I think so.)

The Hardy Boys.

Smart teenage boys?
*swoon*

Shawn Spencer.

Do I even need to say anything about him?
(No. No I don't.)

Really, what is it about detectives that makes them so irresistible?

Is it the suave way they handle situations?

(No. Adrian Monk is not suave.)

Is it the slightly tousled, five o clock shadow look?

(No. The Hardy Boys are too young to have five o clock shadows.)

Is it the straightforward, no-nonsense gathering of facts and clues?

(No. Shawn Spencer is nothing but nonsense.)

Hmm.

I guess it'll always be a mystery.

(But whatever it is, they have
definitely got it.)

Kate

Inspired By Kat...

Kat's angst-y post about boys was so inspiring that now I...am getting distracted by a Reese's commercial. Oh how I love Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. But that's not the point! Gah. Let me try again.

AHEM.

Here's the thing. You've been one of my life's best friends (so far), and I truly miss how close we used to be. Originally this was supposed to be a post about how well I am doing not thinking about you, but instead, I'm going to list all the things I loved about our friendship.

1. You were there for me when I thought I had nowhere to turn.

2. You let me cry when I wanted to be strong.

3. You invited me over just because we enjoyed each other's company.

4. You played with my little brothers.

5. You taught me how to wakeboard.

6. You would take me to Wendy's whenever it struck my fancy.

7. You kidnapped me on my birthday so we could watch cowboy movies.

8. You stayed up late to talk to me when I needed to talk.

9. You came over to do math homework with me.

10. You put up with all my complaining about silly things.

11. You fell asleep whenever we were watching tv, and didn't mind when I woke you up.

12. You hugged me.

13. You offered to hold my hand so I'd have the courage to jump.

14. You went fishing with my dad and little brother.

15. You didn't mind when I laughed at you.

16. You let me play your piano.

17. Your mom always fed me.

18. Your dogs loved me (and I loved them).

19. Your family told me that they liked me.

20. You always knew when something was wrong.

Need I go on? You were a great friend to me. But I stood by while you went through quite a few girlfriends who you didn't really care about, and who didn't really care about you. I pretended not to care that you didn't get me a birthday present. I pulled myself together when I was sick and you wanted to do something. I helped you choose Valentine's gifts for your girlfriends. I hung out with you and your girlfriend whenever you asked me because no one else would (even thought it was painful).

You probably never even noticed. You probably don't care that our friendship will never be quite the same.

Torn up? Yeah. Feeling better? Yeah.

Love always,
Kate
