Disappointed

A few days ago I was attending a YCL meeting in preparation for Girl's Camp. One of my best friends was there, and while the piles of first years and several other YCLs and leaders played Ride That Pony and various other games, we sat and talked about all sorts of things. BYU football came up, and she suddenly gasped and said, "Oh my gosh, you'll never guess what happened!" Worried, I asked what happened. Apparently, Harvey Unga, who used to be my hero, someone I had a lot of respect for, "removed himself" from the BYU football team for Honor Code Violations. She didn't have the details of why, but I had my suspicions. Later on in the day, it occurred to me to ask one of my other friends, who follows BYU football very closely. He informed me that Harvey's fiancee had also withdrawn from BYU.

Oh Harvey. How could you? You can't trust anyone these days, I guess. *sigh*

In other news, I like springtime. It smells and looks fantastic, don't you agree? Also, I got my learner's permit. I am loose on the road, so everyone better watch out. :o) I guess that those two are almost enough to overcome my severe disappointment. Almost. Ah well.

There, look at that beautiful flower until you feel better. Also, I might recommend a brownie if the picture isn't doing the trick.

...

Feel better? Yeah. Me too.

I'm Still Alive

Really. I promise I am. 3rd term is SO busy. So now there is a tiny break in the madness before end of year testing, Band Festivals, range and road tests (yikes!) and other such arrapatath.

So, before I go for another long break from this blog, I'll update it to prove that I am still breathing. For now.

Let's start with big events I've skipped over.

1. My room is finished and I am officially moved in!

2. I have recently started teaching myself guitar. It's coming along...a little bit. Kind of.

3. Flute. It's everywhere. BYU Festival, Region, UVFF, etc etc. Here's proof.

4. Me and Nicole went to the temple and to Carl's Jr. This was a landmark event because we've been planning it for two months or so, and it finally happened!

5. Paul is doing wonderfully, I believe. Here is one of my favorite pictures of him. And no, I am not quite sure what he is doing. Something awesome, evidently.

In other news, I am doing fairly well right now. Just getting started with term 4 of my sophomore year (yes!) and already looking ahead to my junior year! I'm excited for my classes next year, I think it's gonna be a lot of fun. Band, (hopefully) Choir, Physics, AP English, Pre Calc, AP World History, Seminary, and Lifetime Sports is what I'm hoping for. For now, I'll just focus on getting out of school alive.

I seem to have developed a slight cold, which is silly, because it is spring outside today. One should not be sniffling and sneezing and coughing when the sun is shining! It is a beautiful day today and I think I will go take a walk shortly after I post this here...post.

Also, I want to make brownies. Perhaps I will.

So there is your peek into the life of Kate. It's not much, but there you go. Happy Springtime!

A Little Heartache

I miss my brother. But he's in the right place, so I am happy. I have a little heartache. :'(

My Cup Runneth Over

Here I am, at home all alone. Thinking about Christmas and New Year's and what January will inevitably bring. My dear brother Paul will be leaving on his mission to Independence, Missouri on January 13th. My homework isn't done. My room is a mess. I'm worried about driving in the snow tomorrow. My stomach hurts and I've had a headache for a week.
But I'm so lucky and so blessed. I have a wonderful family that loves me, I have a brother going to do the Lord's work for 2 years, I have another week to finish my homework, I have a nice cozy room to make messes in, we have a car to drive through the snow, and I have Tums and ibuprofen to keep me working properly.
So even though I'm sad and worried and already missing my brother, I have a lot to be thankful for. I get to spend New Year's with my brother one more time. My cup runneth over.

Ready For Christmas!

Hey everyone! This is my Beginning of Christmas post. I think Christmas is my most favorite time of year. I will now list the things I love about Christmas (in no particular order).
1. Watching the old animated Rudolph cartoons
2. Singing and playing Christmas songs with my mom
3. Drinking Sparkling Cider
4. Decorating the tree
5. Playing in the first snow
6. Drinking hot chocolate
7. Sledding on Christmas Eve
8. Looking forward to New Year's
9. Reading by the tree
10. Christmas PJ's
11. Taking pictures of exciting Christmas doings

This is a short list, but there are altogether too many things I love about Christmas to list them all. I love everything about Christmas. Even the cold. And speaking of taking Christmas-y pictures...

Consider the halls decked.

Lights in the dark

I like how you can see the tree through the window

What a cute, Christmas flavored house!

Wade, with a reindeer biting his nose

This pictures just makes me laugh

A special bum shot for Mel. :)

Contemplating the true meaning of Christmas...

Putting the star on top!

This sock on the tree was just too funny

A mommy and her son

And finally, the mouse we discovered under the kitchen sink. This is one thing I don't love so much about Christmastime. All the mice come in the house. Ah well.

So there you have it. Many things that I love about Christmas, all in one bite-sized post! Merry Christmas!

Thanksgiving Munchies

This is a Thanksgiving post. It is chock full of pictures (which took me forever to get on here) and should take you a long time to get through. I spent the weekend at my Grandparent's with a lot of my family, and we had a fantastic time playing card games, eating pie, and taking tons of pictures. ;) So, I hope you have a safe voyage through this picture-ful post!

Yay, you made it! I sincerely hope you enjoyed looking through these pictures as much as I did. I am blessed to have such a wonderful family who love me and let me take pictures of our craziness together. I couldn't have handpicked them better myself! I love you guys!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Kate

P.S. Since it's officially the day after Thanksgiving, I feel no guilt in this Christmas background. Also I'm okay to help put up Christmas decorations. WAHOO!

I've decided to stop being lazy!

So. I'm finally gonna get to work on this blog. Today, I went and played with my Mom. We went to our neighbor's house and got some SUPER cute hats and headbands that she makes herself. We don't have all of them yet, though, so I'll put pictures when we have them. Also, I got new sweats today. I like them. They're comfy. Hmm. I'm tired. Let's see if I can make some pictures work. Shazam!!

This is my cute brother on his cute bike

This is at Lagoon. I really like this sign.

So....yeah! Let's see how this goes :S
